A group of Bankers support Carmarthen’s Xcel Project for a day as part of their Cooperate Responsibility

Shifting, Lifting and Sifting was the order of the day for this group of financiers as they helped clear the Xcel Phase 2 site and photographed a line of clothing for the Xcel Furniture project in Johnstown.

Xcel Furniture recycling and Community Shop is part of Towy Community Church’s Xcel Project and sells donated furniture, household items and clothing at affordable rates in order to raise money for their other outreach projects.

The Furniture and Shop are well known in the local area and has helped support low income families and those in crisis via their agency referral scheme. The project has also recycled 17.55 tonnes of metals, materials and unwanted clothes in 2024. The hope for the project is to use the Phase 2 warehouse to increase the overall project’s storage facilities ready for expansion to reflect the growing demand for Foodbank and affordable essential items in this current living crisis.

The well known National Bank enjoyed being part of helping the project support the local community further.

All the profits raised through the Furniture and Community Shop will go directly towards the running of the Foodbank and CMA. Carmarthen Foodbank supported 3,362 people in 2024 and the CMA supported Carmarthenshire residents by writing-off over £100,000 of debt and manage over £500,000 through debt management support and advocacy work.
